President Obama commented about their decision in the Citizens' United, (2010) case that had been decided shortly before his Address. In Citizens' United, the Court voted 5-4 to lift the campaign contribution limits and allow corporations to spend as much as they wanted to promote a candidate. This has the potential for allowing corporate America, and even companies with foreign ties, to determine who runs the government. Many people think the Supreme Court made a bad decision.
