Some turtles may foam from the mouth due to regurgitation. The regurgitation is normally caused by eating too quickly, or overeating. Another cause of foaming at the mouth may be a RI or respiratory infection. These infections can usually be cleared up with an injection of antibiotics.
Human death that is characterized with foaming out mouth is not unusual. This might be caused by various reasons but the main cause could be pulmonary edema. Was the person exposed to rabies? Congestive heart failure is another possibiity
Take him to the vet immediately as he may have injection some poison.
Very carefully take your puppy or dog to the vet. The main cause and the most feared cause of foaming at the mouth is the extremely infections rabies. Do not touch the foam, clean up after the dog and get it to an emergency centre right away. Other causes are medication side effects. This may also need to be looked at by a vet. Anxiety, poisoning and motion sickness are three other causes of dog frothing, again, which require a vet to examine the dog.
If the the dog is foaming at the mouth, but otherwise has enough water, it may be simply due to exertion. If the dog has been running and playing, they may foam at the mouth even if they have plenty of water. This is just the dog's natural air conditioning system at work. If the dog has not been playing hard, it may be a sign of injury or illness. It is not always rabies, many conditions both major and minor, can cause foaming at the mouth. This can also be a sign of anxiety. You will have to watch your dog for other signs of illness to rule it out. If in doubt, take your animal to the vet.
These tablets should not be chewed or kept in the mouth, but should swallowed whole because their bitter taste may cause gagging or vomiting.
Some drugs given for psychosis, such as haloperidol (Haldol) or chlorpromazine (thorazine), may cause parkinsonism
Rifampin may make many drugs less effective. Among the drugs that may be affected are diabetes medicines taken by mouth (oral hypoglycemics), digitalis heart drugs, many antifungal drugs, and birth control pills.
Accidental ingestion of some drugs may cause ataxia, seizures , sensory neuropathies, or coma and death. The chronic administration of antihistamine medication and anticonvulsive drugs may cause ataxia in children.
There are different reasons as to why the dog could be foaming. 1. Rabies, is he/she up to date on vaccines, Has he/she been in contact with wildlife recently. 2. Have you applied any topical medications recently. Flea/Tick preventative or topical antibiotic (spray/cream) from either pet store or veterinary clinic/hospital 3. Have you given anything by mouth lately that you have never given before, either prescribed by a vet or over the counter. 4. Your dog may have been trying to bite or pick up a toad. Toads will squirt a noxious liquid when they feel threatened. This liquid will cause a dog to froth at the mouth, even after drinking. Use milk to help neutralize the effects.
