My son had something very similar to this when he was about three. We think it came from his chickenpox vaccination. The rash was little red bumps with white heads that changed into a blister like rash. The doctor said it was shingles. Usually the only way to get shingles is to have chickenpox, but my son never had chicken pox. The only thing is that shingles in toddlers is virtually painless while in adults it is very painful and can last a long time. You should probably go to your doctor to make sure and keep him away from anyone who hasn't yet had the chicken pox. Good luck to you!

You should probably have them checked for eczema...or simply mix lotion and vaseline in equal parts...lube them up and see if it goes away. It helped our daughter.
