After 8 years of this and that most of the rashes my kids have had were from simple things overlooked everyday. The biggest cause in ny household was from laundry detergent, Trying a new brand can spark a rash. Bleach for whites is a no no in my house unless you like splotchy looking kids. Did your child have a new food, new medicine, new type of material in clothing. My kids get a rash from wool. Temperature causes rashes too. To hot or cold. Ask your pediatrician he/she can do an alergen test.
