What could be the problem with a 2001 22 L Sunfire that has a burnt oil smell at startup and idle but no smoke in the exhaust and an increase in coolant temp of approx 10 degrees?

Answer

You probably have an oil leak somewhere around the top of the engine. Valve cover gasket, leaking head gasket. When the engine warms up, it cooks it off and you smell it.
