I don't know the answer. But I had blood work taken this morning and am having the same thing happen. I've never experienced it before but I do know that the tech put the needle pretty deep and my arm was immediately sore afterwards and the upper arm pain started about 30 minutes later.

could be either the needle was too deep, or they hit one of the valves in the vein.
