Temple Pain: No Easy AnswerAccording to my research, temple pain could be a result of a number of things from very serious to completely harmless. I have had sharp temporal pain a few times in my life that lasted from a few seconds to 20 to 30 seconds and sometimes in intervals over a few minutes, and then it goes away. The closest answer I could find for my problem is called Ice Pick Headaches which are harmless but can cause sudden extreme pain for no apparent reason in a very short period of time (5 to 30 seconds) and then goes away. Whatever the case, though, a doctor visit couldn't hurt due to the possibility of something much more serious.

Pain in your left temple could simply be a harmless headache, but it could also be an indication that there is another problem. Pain that recurs in the same spot could indicate damage to the brain or skull, poor circulation in that area, or even the presence of a parasite.

There are lots of different conditions and diseases which could cause that symptom. Neuralgia, a nerve irritation, is possible. It might be a sign of referred pain from a dental problem. It could indicate a stroke or a brain tumor.
