I do not think that you should get someone to threaten you, especially if you have a family. I am not sure why you would want to be threatened. If you are angry with someone and want to get them in trouble, I suggest that you resolve your problems/issues rather than getting involved with law enforcement or criminal charges.

It could mean they are jealous of you? Or they resent you, or something you may have done. A threat can be many things, if you were threatened as in; "If you don't give me that necklace your wearing, I won't be your friend anymore!" That is more a kind of blackmail, but they are still threatening to with hold their friendship, if you don't do what they want. But they aren't your friend, if they would treat you with so little respect in the first place.

Another threat can be a straight forward, threat. Many times someone who is a bully and needs to feel in control will threaten those around them in an attempt to feel powerful. This type of threat is very obvious and open because they want others to see it, that increases their mistaken feelings of importance, and power. Of course they don't want anyone with "real" power to see them making threats. Then they would be seen for the bully and inconsiderate person they truly are.

The best things to do if you have been threatened, and you feel it's serious. Talk to someone of authority. Anyone, if the first person doesn't listen, or really hear you, then tell someone else in a position of authority! Don't stop talking until someone listens. Explaining what has happened, and how concerned you are about the circumstances, is vital. Doing nothing is making a choice.

The most severe is terrorist threats.

Another View: In many states - verbal threats, that are not accompanied by any means or method with which to carry them out, can be considered Constitutionally protected free speech.

Other states do have statutes that cover something called "Fighting Words" and verbal threats MAY fall under this category in THOSE states.

Actually threatening somone is an offense which ranges from simple assault to inciting a riot or terrorist threats, blackmailing or extortion.

True; but if you threaten someone online however it's more serious and you could be arrested or face charges. For example, on YouTube your in a comment argument then you decide to act like a tough guy and say something like,"I'm going to find where you live and kill you". That right their is a threat that is taken very seriously. One, that's Obstruction of Justice, Identity theft to hack their account, and intention to to do harm.

If it occurs in open court, you could be immediately placed in custody for contempt of court. Depending on the type of threat, you could also be charged with menacing, harassment, or disorderly conduct.

If you threaten to hurt somebody, it is assualt. For instance, going up to somebody and saying Im gonna kill you or Im gonna hurt you, that's assualt. Actually hurting them is battery. Then there is aggravated and simple assualt, but I'm not going to get into that.

you should just walk away and don't look back, if they follow you take your phone out and pretend to call your mum but be carefull they might jack your phone off of you and some people would just ring people pretending to be you.

also if you are being threatened then i would suggest that you tell someone like a friend your mum or childline (they'er the best to talk to unless your mum got bullied herself).
