Actually, Christmas in Italy begins on December 24th. The actual day of Christmas is December 25th, in which they celebrate the birth of christ, but from then on, they have the 12 days of Christmas. On January 6th, children go to bed and wait for their "santa clause", known to them as "la bafana", or "the witch" to bring them their gifts. January 6th, wich ends their Christmas holiday, is the day they have their Christmas fiest, open their gifts, and sing Christmas carols.
