He looked a bit like Charlie Chaplin. There's an excellent Charlie Chaplin film called "The Great Dictator". It was released in the U.S. in 1940 and gave the Nazis a whole series of temper tantrums. They even demanded that the film be banned throughout America - which in itself gave rise to much mirth. In the film, the "Great Dictator" is shown as a grotesque, wildly gesticulating, ranting and raving, ridiculous little man.

He was an ugly man with a mustache. People thought he was ugly, but they listened to him because he was powerful with speeches. That's all there is to it! An ugly man!!
