Crockett was a folk hero, frontiersman, congressman and Alamo defender. He was in the Tennessee militia and participated in the massacre of Native Americans at Tallussahatchee in northern Alabama. He was not at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend in 1814 nor was he at the Battle of New Orleans.
