They both whent to Sodapop (ponyboys middle brother) for help. Soadapop was at a party but trying to get to sleep. But that was not so cleaver, because Sodapop has a long list of criminal records and he is literaly saying "this is what I would do, so thats what you need to do." then gave them directions to the church a gun and 50 bucks.
