The Holy Family, a Catholic and Orthodox term, refers to Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
Christians believe that Mary gave birth to Jesus who was God-incarnate. In doing so, she cooperated in God's plan of salvation by which fallen humanity would be shown the way back to God. Without Mary saying "Yes" the Incarnation could not have taken place.
