Like other people, the Greeks believed their gods controlled humans and natural worlds. The Greeks honored their god by holding festivals and games. Ancient Greek theology revolved around polytheism = there were many gods and goddesses. Just like ancient Egypt, the Greeks were polytheistic, all the gods held animal and human body form.

- Zeus: ruler of all gods and controller of the heavens
- poseidon: Zeus's brother; ruler of the seas and also known to cause earthquakes
- Pluto: also Zeus's brother; god of the underworld. (also known as hades)
- ares: God of War
- Apollo: twin brother of the goddess of the moon, Artemis. god of sun, light, and truth, also controlled music, poetry, science, and healing.
- dionysus: god of wine and fertility
- Hermes: messenger of the gods
- hephaestos: god of metalworking
here are some goddesses:
- athene: also known as Athena, the goddess of wisdom and war.
- hera: protector of women and marriage. married to Zeus and also his sister.
- hestia: goddess of the hearth
- aphrodite: goddess of beauty and love
- Demeter: goddess of the harvest.
some creatures:
- medusa: snake hair
- cerberus: three-headed dog that guards the entrance to the underworld
- cyclops: one eye
