Best Answer

Long trousers held up by braces or a rope belt were standard clothes worn by men in the bush in the 1920s. Shirts had long, rolled-up sleeves, and boots were strong, leather boots. The main distinctive piece of clothing was a wide-brimmed hat, made of cow leather or even kangaroo hide. Swagmen came to be known for their hats with numerous corks hung on twine at intervals on the brim of the hat: this was to deter flies from craeling over their faces.
