Chinooks, who lived mainly shores of the Columbia River and Willapa Bay, ate a wide variety of fish and shellfish. They hunted seals, deer and elk as well as ducks and other water fowl.

Wapato root and berries were an important part of the diet too.

Traditionally the Chinook diet consisted of all kinds of fish and shellfish. Salmon and sturgeon being popular. Seals, sea lions, elk, deer, berries, roots, ducks, geese. Whatever was available.
