In response to the Invasion of Iraq, March 2003, The Dixie Chicks (Natalie) in the middle of a concert in England made some anti-Bush comments. Like "They were embarrased and ashamed that Bush was from Texas" and made some remarks about the U.S always wanting to go to war.........................But it was a major thing because people in England were bashing the United States and Bush and it seemed like The Dixie Chicks jumped on and supported that bandwagon. Fans felt betrayed. Correction: some fans felt betrayed. Many more agreed with the statements. After that, there was an attempt to blacklist the Dixie Chicks. Some Country radio stations boycotted their music. The Dixie Chicks stood their ground, and went on with their careers. At the 2007 GRAMMY Awards they sang a song titled "Not Ready To Make Nice", in defiance of the attempts to pressure them to apologize. Now it's 2009. The Dixie Chicks are still around, still singing. Score one for Freedom of Speech. "I apologized for disrespecting the office of the President," says Maines. "But I don't feel that way anymore. I don't feel he is owed any respect whatsoever." -- Time, 5/21/06" Haha, Natalie is pretty damn brave to stand her ground like that. A very admirable woman.

During the Iraq invasion in 2003, the Dixie Chicks went on tour in London. While performing, the Dixie Chicks main singer, Natalie Maines (from Texas like Bush), made a comment on President Bush and the war:

Just so you know, we're on the good side with y'all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas.

This comment was seen as inappropriate to make in a foreign country. The media quickly picked up this comment and the entire U.S. found out about it. People believed she was wrong to criticize the president on foreign soil and began to boycott Dixie

Chicks music. Radio stations stopped playing their music and people threw away CD's.

In 2006, the Dixie Chicks fough back against all the "haters". They released a new CD mainly centered on the results of the comment made in 2003. One song's lyrics read:I'm not ready to make niceI'm not ready to back downI'm still mad as hell and I don't have time to go 'round and 'round and 'roundIt's too late to make it rightI probably wouldn't if I could'Cause I'm mad as hellCan't bring myself to do what it is you think I should
