If you mean which hieroglyph was used to writer the sound "m", it was the owl with its face turned towards the viewer. It is thought that at different times the Barn Owl and the Eagle Owl were used for this hieroglyph - both of these lived in ancient Egypt. Strangely, there was no specific word for "owl" in the ancient Egyptian language (as there was for kite, swallow and goose), so presumably people spoke of it using the general term for "bird".
