The peasants were able to become landlords, not pay taxes to former lords and the right to vote as benefits from the French Revolution. Women were able to receive education and be recognized equally than before.

The peasants, also known as the bourgeoisie (the common folk) represented the 3rd estate in the Estate General and that estate grew stronger than the 1st (the nobility) and 2nd (the clergy) and eventually got the 2 other estates to join them.

The 3rd estate was the party that wanted and eventually actually started the revolution in France.
