What did the us army rank look like before the 1920?

USA - The rank used in the Army during WW1 was the same as used later in WW2. The stripes and insiginia have basically remained unchanged. There have been some changes in WW2 to add Tech Specialists ranks that have a "T" under the stripes.

The Army ranks were different prior to 1880 and during the Civil War in the method the insignia were worn for both officers and enlistedmen.
