Infectious diseases involve a causative organism, from groups such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and such. Noninfectious diseases involve causes other than specific infectious organisms.
Pathogens only cause INFECTIOUS DISEASES. Non infectious diseases are caused by inheritance, nutritional deficiencies or through the environment (substance abuse).
AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) is a diagnosis and not a disease. HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is the virus that causes someone to develop AIDS.
