What dissolves gold?

Answer:
=> Aqua regia, a mixture of concentrated hydrochloric acid and nitric acid in 1:3 ratio, can dissolve gold. It is to be used readily or it would decompose.
Au + HNO3 + 4 HCl ----> HAuCl4 + NO + 2 H2O

=> Hot and concentrated Selenic acid(H2SeO4) can also dissolve gold.
2 Au + 6 H2SeO4 ----> Au2(SeO4)3 + 3 H2SeO3 + 3 H2O

=> Concentrated solution of Potassium cyanide(KCN), in presence of oxygen, can dissolve gold
4 Au + 8 KCN + O2 + 2 H2O → 4 K[Au(CN)2] + 4 KOH

=> Mercury can dissolve gold to form an alloy, called amalgam.
