Basic doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints include a central focus on Jesus Christ as the Son of God, the Savior and Redeemer of the world.

Mormons believe that one must have faith in Jesus Christ, repent of his/her sins, be baptized by immersion for the remission of sins by one with proper authority from God, and continue to live a good and wholesome life.

Mormons believe in a pre-earth life where humanity lived as spiritual sons and daughters of God and there chose to come to earth to receive a mortal body, be tested, and eventually die, be resurrected and judged, and receive an inheritance in one of three states of glory in the Kingdom of God.

Mormon Scriptures include the Old and New Testament (the King James Version of the Bible), the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, the Pearl of Great Price which are selections from the Book of Moses (the first five books of the Bible), extracts from the translation of the Bible as revealed to Joseph Smith the Prophet, June 1830-1831, the Book of Abraham which were translated from ancient Egyptian papyrus which the prophet translated by his seer stone and Joseph Smith translation of Mathew 23:39 and chapter 24.

Mormons also believe in the doctrine of continuing revelation - the belief that God has not changed since biblical times and continues to call prophets (men of God given Priesthood authority to act in the name of God for the benefit of humanity) in modern times as well as in times of old. Joseph Smith (1805-1844) was the first to be called as a prophet in this dispensation and was the founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It was through him that the Book of Mormon and Pearl of Great Price were translated, and most of Doctrine and Covenants was recorded by him.

Representatives of the Church, or missionaries, are specifically designated by the Church to answer questions regarding doctrine and basic beliefs and serve for two or less years in their responsibilities full-time across the globe.

1. We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
2. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.
3. We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
4. We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
5. We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
6. We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
7. We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
8. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
9. We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
10. We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
11. We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
12. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
13. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul-We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things

It would be impossible to put everything that members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) believe in one answer, but here is a short summary of their most fundamental beliefs:

1. The Godhead consists of God the Father, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. They are three separate beings united in purpose.

2. Men are not 'born sinners', but are creations of God and therefore inherently good. They will be punished for their own sins, not for the sin of Adam.

3. We are all children of a loving Heavenly Father (God). We lived with Him before our mortal life and will return to live with Him again after this life.

4. Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, all mankind may be saved. Salvation is conditional upon obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

5. One must have faith in Jesus Christ, repent and forsake their sins, and be baptized in order to receive salvation.

6. We are a restoration of the Biblical church and should follow the same organization and doctrine. Therefore, we have a Prophet, 12 Apostles, Seventies, Bishops, etc.

7. God communicates with us, His children, through revelation. He reveals His will to us in modern times just as He did anciently.

8. Men are called of God by prophesy to preach and lead in the church. They must receive the Priesthood authority through the laying on of hands by those who have the authority to do so.

9. The Holy Bible (King James Version in English), the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price are scripture and contain the words of God.

10. Those who live worthily are eligible of the gifts of the Spirit, including the gift of tongues, prophesy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.

11. Jesus Christ is soon returning to the earth to reign personally. Israel is literally being gathered. Zion, the New Jerusalem, will be built in America.

12. We claim the privilege of worshiping almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience and allow all men that same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

13. We believe in being good citizens and honoring and sustaining the law of the land.

14. We should live our lives as examples of Jesus Christ, being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and doing good to all men.

15. As our bodies are gifts from God, we should care for them by living a healthy lifestyle and avoiding harmful substances such as coffee, alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs.

16. We believe that through sacred Temple ordinances, couples and families can be sealed together for eternity and the opportunity of salvation can be extended to those who died without receiving it.
