There are three different kinds of algae: Red algae.Brown algae and green algae. Some algaes are multicellular and some are unicellular. Most algaes are free floating.they have a slime layer which protects them from bacteria. An algae plant body is called a thallus.
Algae rarely grow in a hot tub, what does grow are bacteria. There are several different types, sometimes the water will turn hazy other times you can see little brown dots along the sides of your hot tub. I have noticed in the past, if there is a noticeable amount of bacteria in your hot tub, it wont take long for the population to grow, and make your hot tub a mess. If you can catch it in the beginning stage you might be ok, shock it with the pump running, that should do it. If its very cloudy, your best off to drain and clean it. Even if you can kill the bactreria, the dead bacteria will provided food for any new bacteria that enters the tub, and it won't take long for it to become a mess again.

Plankton that is a plant that can live in the ocean. For images, consult the related links below.
Phytoplankton are said to look like a sea of stars along the surface of the water. They resemble tiny little bugs that can cause a light up effect in the night waters.
flagellated algae
Volvox is a motile colonial green alga. It is a hollow sphere with small vegetative cells arranged on the surface. Each individual cell has two whip-like projections know as flagella.
its just like that green stuff you'd find on trees or rocks or sidewalks after it rains except under water.
Most macroalgae (multicellular algae) are made up of three parts. The blade is a leaf-like structure that captures light and carries on photosynthesis. The stipe is the stem of the algae. The holdfast is the anchor for the algae; it holds the algae to a solid surface such as a rock or pier. Although the holdfast may look like roots, it does not function to get nutrients or water. Some algae may have a fourth structure, the pneumatocyst; this structure is an air bladder on the stipe or blade that functions to keep the algae afloat in the water column.
if i know the answer of this question then why i ask you...
brown and algaelike
Algae is a virus that lives in the sea, and it looks brown, green, yellow-green, or red.
Algae is a very small plant that is green so when you get enough of it in the water it makes the water look green
you would find algae
algae
There are many kinds of algae-Green algae like Chlorella, Desmids, Spirogyra, etc.Brown algae like Laminaria and Fucus.Red algae include Chondrus and Diatoms.
They look like tiny black specks about the size of your pinky finger. The normally swim around on the bottom, just like their mom would.

Phycology is the study of algae. Some engineers look at algae as a source of biomass for fuel. Amazingly there are over 2,000 types of algae.
