With Greece i assume you mean Athens.
And with Rome i assume you mean the Roman Republic
They were actually kinda' not alike.
In Athens, all free men could vote, which means, no women and no slaves.
In Rome, they had the Senate and two Consuls. The senate consisted of elected members from the Patrician-class, nobility of Rome. The Consuls were chosen by and from the Senate, these two would then co-rule Rome for a 1 year period and then two new consuls would be chosen.
I know the question wasn't about democracy, but i will bring it up anyway.
Athens was a democracy if you were a free man.
Rome was a democracy if you were a male member of the nobility.
So to say that either were democratic would clearly be from a male perspective.
They are not comparable. Greece was not a unified entity. it was divided into city0states and kingdoms. Each state had its own political arrangements. The philosopher Aristotle classified them into monarchy (rule by a king) aristocracy (rule by the excellent, based on virtue alone) oligarchy (rule by the rich) tyranny (despotic rule by a tyrant) and democracy (rule by the people)
First of all, over the 1200 years of Rome's history, there were three forms of government: a monarchy for 244 years, a republic for 482 years and rule by emperors for 506 years. Even during the absolute rule by emperors the government of Rome had little in common with that of Egypt. In Egypt women had the right to succeed, in Rome they did not; royal siblings married each other to become joint monarch, in Rome this did not happen. The pharaoh was considered a god, Roman emperors were not. The pharaohs relied on the powerful priesthoods for their rule, the Roman emperors did not.
They were all democracies, at some point in time or another. They also worshiped many celestial beings. Both Greece and Rome ruled over Egypt at some time.
The ancient Rome government was republic with senators, plebians, and counsils. Then they became an empire
lmfao
The Romans never had a representative government.
