Infrared (IR) light, visible light and X-rays are all electromagnetic radiation, and the only difference is in the frequency (or wavelength) of the energy. They are listed here in the question in order of lower to higher frequency, and that means longer to shorter wavelength.

Ultraviolet rays (UV) are higher energy waves than the light spectrum (hence their name: higher energy than violet, or "ultra-violet"). Because they are high energy, they do damage to exposed skin tissue (among other things).

Infrared rays (IR) are just the opposite. They have less energy than red light (infra- means "below"), and we sense IR waves as heat.
