Lady beetles, or Coccinellidae, live on sap and sugars from plant leaves. Thus they enjoy finding aphids - a pre-wrapped bundle of goodies for them. About 5 000 species world wide. They are predated on by birds, Spiders, and other omnivorous beetles. In fact in their 'caterpillar' stage they will eat each other!
