Im a full-blood Chinese , and looking back my new year time I can tell you. Chinese New Year is not in the day every year cuz Chinese traditional festivals are at their own calendar.. Even I could not the how the calendar of china calculate the dates,it changes every year from vulgate canlendar..

And during the Chinese new year. People stick together and have meal together ,at home or restaurant. And play , more I see is my parents and relatives play Mahjong.. As for kids like me , we can get money with a red oblong bag from relatives but not every relatives , some people are just ungenerous. And whole day I can play as long as I can hold on, most of Chinese parents would not care that during the new year days. That's all.

The second day of the Chinese New Year is for married daughters to visit their birth parents. Traditionally, daughters who have been married may not have the opportunity to visit their birth families frequently.

On the second day, the Chinese pray to their ancestors as well as to all the gods. They are extra kind to dogs and feed them well as it is believed that the second day is the birthday of all dogs.

Business people of the Cantonese dialect group will hold a 'Hoi Nin' prayer to start their business on the 2nd day of Chinese New Year. The prayer is done to pray that they will be blessed with good luck and prosperity in their business for the year.

The Chinese people have many ways to celebrate this special time of the year, such as putting money in red envelopes to give to children; writing Chinese lucky symbol Fu and putting it on the door. The celebration lasts about 15 days

There they burn incense sticks and can also have their fortunes told. This tradition is founded in the belief that cleaning the house at this time of year will "sweep away the bad luck.
