Labrador Retrievers originate from Newfoundland and are named after the Labrador Sea because the name Newfoundland was already taken (another dog breed). Labrador Retrievers were bred to retrieve sunken nets and shot game. Their webbed paws and waterproof coat are some tools that help them keep warm and swim well. So, if you have a lab, chances are it will love to fetch like my lab.
