Stage directions are very important when in a play. They tell you where to go and what to do on stage. If the director says go upstage, you move backwards. If a director says move downstage, you go towards the audience. Without stage directions no actor or actress would know where to go. Trust me, I have been in at least 8 plays, and I am only in middle school.#
Stage directions are quite important because if the actor ends up in the wrong place it can throw off other actors and ruin the blocking or choreography.

Stage directions are instructions given in a script that describe the setting, characters' movements, and actions on stage. Dialogue, on the other hand, refers to the spoken words exchanged between characters in a play or script. Stage directions provide guidance for actors and directors on how to interpret the dialogue within a scene.

Stage directions are typically written by the playwright in the script. However, during rehearsals and performances, the director is responsible for communicating and implementing these directions to the actors and other production team members.
A play script consists of dialogue, stage directions, character names, and sometimes setting descriptions. The dialogue includes the spoken lines by characters, while stage directions provide guidance on movements, expressions, and actions. The format is usually structured with character names centered and dialogue aligned to the left.
