Stun Guns are marketed as less than lethal self defense weapons for men and women.

They hurt people. Stun guns cause extreme vigorous work on the nervous system and muscles. This results results in instantaneous fatigue, confusion, weakness and loss of balance.

Stun guns come in several different voltage levels some as low as 400 volts and some as high a 5.8 million volts (yes I said million). The higher the voltage the more symptoms are produced, and also much more painful. High voltage stun guns such as the RUNT-45 4.5 Million volt stun gun can cause the basic symptoms such as mentioned above with the addition of causing the attacker to lose consciousness, lose control of their bowels, cause short term memory loss, short term mental confusion/disorientation, bruising of muscles due to contraction/spasms bruising and mild burns around contact area. In some cases depending on the medical conditions of the attacker stun guns can induce seizures in epileptics even if they are on medication. Those with mild heart conditions can experience palpitations or irregular heart beat. The more severe symptoms, depending on the attackers health, is heart attack/stroke due to the amount of stress put on the body by the voltage, stun guns can also affect medical implants such as pace makers. There have been numerous deaths across the USA caused by stun guns, so stun guns are not always a nonlethal solution.

They are designed to key into the nervous system. It dumps its energy into the muscles at a high pulse frequency that makes the muscles work very rapidly, but not efficiently. This rapid work cycle depletes blood sugar by converting it to lactic acid all in just seconds. The resulting energy loss makes it difficult to move and function. At the same time, the tiny neurological impulses that travel throughout the body to direct muscle movement are interrupted. This causes disorientation and loss of balance and leaves the attacker in a passive and confused condition for several minutes. Still, there is no significant effect on the heart and other organs.
