Frogs spawn in my backyard pond every summer here in Florida, and sometimes I feed the babies. Plain dry oats are eaten they also like stewed cabbage or lettuce in ice cubes , but they especially seem to enjoy fresh fruit. Plums, mango, and tomato are devoured.

Tadpoles or frog spawn eat a variety of foods tadpoles have been known to eat foods like lettuce, fish food, egg yolk and even baby cereal. A tadpole starts feeding a few days after it is born typically when it starts growing legs until which it feeds on its own egg yolk and does not need to be fed externally.

Once it has grown sufficiently it starts feeding on mainly algae if it is in a pond and may even eat its own kind if sufficient food is not available for example in a tank.

As the animals begin to get bigger you should start feeding them uncooked but not bloody meat/bacon rind/meat scraps (because the vedgetable digesting gut of the tadpole evolves into the carnivorous stomach of the insect eating frog. ) and separate them because they may begin to fight between one-another!!

Solidified egg yolk and fish food can be utilized. Ideally tadpoles should be fed two pinches of food twice in a day after eight hours taking care not to dirty the water too much.

Also one would do well to change the water only after the tadpoles have sufficiently grown in to froglets, indicated by the disappearance of their tail.

Whatever the kit comes with. My little brother got a tadpole kit and he ordered the food online and it is treating the tadpoles great!

GOOD LUCK!

Different types of tadpoles eat different things; some eat mostly algae, whereas others eat frog eggs provided by a female, and still other canabalize other tadpoles. Tadpoles eat via their small mouths, located on the ventral surface of the head.

In the wild tadpoles will often eat algae and micro (water) plants. They like to sit on the banks or rocks and suck the algae off of them. In captivity, tadpoles eat plants there owners give them. They usually like lettuce, carrots, and fruits. (No citrus foods.) You can even buy special Tadpole Food at pet stores. When they are in captivity they may feed on a wide variety of food for example: baby food, egg yolk, lettuce, algae and special dietary food supplements. Yet of course the choices vary for different types of tadpoles and owners.

Some types of tadpoles eat unfertilized eggs from the mother, while others are cannibalistic and eat their brother and sister tadpoles.

Tadpoles are herbivorous and will eat lettuce or spinach when they are young. If you freeze it first, it will thaw and make it easier for the tadpole to eat. If the tadpole is in a pond they will rasp away at algae on the wall or pond weed. When they get their legs, they become carnivorous and will eat each other if they do not get meat. You can hang a piece of raw meat (not greasy!) on a string, and when it starts to rot, pull it out. When they are froglets (tadpoles with front and back legs but still have tails) they can eat tiny fruit flies or, if big enough, very small crickets. baby tadpoles eat only algae and small saplings in aquatic boiled lettuce

Tadpoles start out eating their own yolk sacks. Once that's exhausted they are completely vegetarian, eating algae, plants and other microscopic things in the water. Some say it's sufficient to just keep adding fresh pond water to get more microbes in; fresh live pond plants may be suitable too (especially if they come with their own coating of algae).

When their back legs emerge, within a short period of time they turn into complete carnivores. They will indeed eat each other if not enough microbes/insects/other small animals are in the water. Also, they are sometimes kept as pets. In this environment, they will eat many things. They will eat lettuce, bread and even scrambled eggs !

I have a tadpole and he LOVES spinach I've also heard that they like lettuce but he only eats spinach so you should try.

If tadpoles don't eat, they die. And tadpoles like to live, so they therefore like eating. i guess they eat boiled lettuce! If you put flakes of lettuce in the water of the habitat, then the tadpoles will eat it. But, it takes time for them to see it. So every once in a while, quietly walk over and check on the tadpoles. boiled lettuce and algae.

Did you get some new tadpoles to care for but you are wondering what do tadpoles eat? You can go to the pet store and see if they have tadpole food for sale, or look on the internet to see if you can find tadpole food for sale there, or you can make your own food for tadpoles.

It is very important that your tadpoles get enough food each day, but they are tiny little things and they don't eat much. If you feed them too much then their water will get dirty and that is as unhealthy for tadpoles as not giving them enough tadpole food. If you buy food for tadpoles then all you need to do is read the instructions and follow them carefully.

You can make food for tadpoles, too. You'll need your parent's help to do it, but you should only have to make tadpole food once or twice before they turn into frogs, then you'll have to learn how to feed your frogs. So what do you think tadpoles like to eat? What do you feed tadpoles that you might already have at home? Tadpoles like to eat.... lettuce!

Now, don't just take some lettuce leaves and throw them into your tadpole tank, they are too big and the tadpoles won't eat them, and they are too hard. This is where you will need your parent's help to make your tadpole food. You need to boil the lettuce first, for about ten or fifteen minutes, to soften it up. Then you need to chop it up into tiny pieces. You can put it in a baggie or a covered bowl and freeze your tadpole food so that you don't have to make new tadpole food every day.

You don't want to put hot lettuce tadpole food into the tank, either. Put the cooked lettuce tadpole food into the freezer for a while to let it get cold before you feed your tadpoles. Then every day put a pinch or two of your homemade food for tadpoles into the water and they will eat it and be happy and healthy until they start to turn into frogs.

You will know how to tell if you are giving your tadpoles too much tadpole food because the water will get dirty quickly. But how do you know if you aren't giving them enough tadpole food? Hungry tadpoles will eat each other! If you see your tadpoles start to disappear then you probably aren't giving them enough tadpole food each day and you should start giving them a little bit more.

We just raised tadpoles we caught in our pond to frogs using food bought at the pet store. Our pet store only had one kind they thought would work, and it was called ReptoMin Frog. They did very well on it, and turned out bigger frogs than the same type that were at the pond.

They eat almost anything you can think of. They will eat bacteria, lettuce, algae, insects, and fish. One of the best foods to feed them is lettuce.
