What do tender reflex points signify?

Tender points are not associated with a referral pattern. They generally refer to specific places in the body where there is less metabolic activity, called hypotonicity. It includes a lack of tone accompanied by a lack of blood supply called ischemia. The tenderness is caused by congestion of fluids and a lack of normal circulation. This causes a buildup of metabolic toxins and a lack of nutrients and oxygen. Many people, mostly women, experience a condition known as fibromyalgia that is commonly diagnosed by having a certain pattern of tender points accompanied by general fatigue, body pain, and disrupted sleep patters.

Though there is no known cure, treatment by using gentle massage has often been successful, and some women have gone symptom free for long periods of time.
