The people of the Great Indian Desert are normally Rajasthani or Gujrati. Their diet is diverse, depending on the region and the tribe of the people. People normally consume crops like millet (bajra) and barley (jowar). Consumption of milk products is high. Use of beans from locally grown plants like sangri, ker etc besides dried lentils is also popular here. Gram flour is also a major ingredient of the desert dishes. Butter or pure ghee is used as a medium of cooking. Consumption of non-vegeterian items is very low and is restricted to the Rajput clan.
