When they , the wise men came looking for the baby Jesus , they found him after a long time. The bible says that when the wise men saw the baby Jesus they all fell on their knees and worshiped him. Please note it says they worshiped the baby and not Mary.

Nowhere in Scripture does it say there are 3 Wise Men (Magi). It is highly unlikely that only 3 men would make such a long and potentially dangerous trip - then or now. Some believe there were 10-12 Wise Men bearing the 3 traditional gifts for a king. Also note below, when they see Jesus, he is a young child and not an infant as depicted in Manger scenes. This is probably why Herod order the slaughter of the innocence - all males under 2yrs old.
Wise Men from the East1 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him."

9 When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. 10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. 11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
