Vegetarians eat plants and plant products. Some vegetarians eat dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt) and/or eggs. When you eat/drink dairy, you are a lacto-vegetarian. When you eat eggs, you are an ovo-vegetarian. When you eat both, you are a lacto ovo-vegetarian.
Strict vegetarians also avoid animal-derived products such as gelatin and cochineal (sometimes known as carmine coloring).
Some vegetarians, such as vegans, also don't eat honey, eggs and/or dairy foods.
Some people who eat fish or other animals, but not mammals, call themselves vegetarian, but are not true vegetarians.
