What do we now call the place where the Pueblo revolt took place in 1680?
The Pueblo Revolt of 1680 took place in Nuevo Mexico, a province of the Spanish Crown, today known as New Mexico, USA. The actual participating pueblos were in the norther…n part of the province. Most of the southern pueblos had already been depopulated due to famine and drought. The capital of the province, Santa Fe, was taken over by natives 70 years after its establishment, and held until 1692 when it was retaken by the Spanish. Some of the pueblos are still occupied today. Laguna is the only pueblo in New Mexico that was established in years after the Pueblo Revolt.
