DO NOT use any kind of petroleum-based wound protectant on the hamster because he will lick it and it could cause him harm. Also, a wound protectant with antibiotics is NOT safe for use on a rodent of any kind. If you do and he licks it off, it could kill the bacteria in his gut that he needs to digest food. If this happens, he will not be able to process food, and he'll die.

If it is in a cage with another hamster u should take it out of that cage and put it in a new one ASAP
