I have a 98 Toyota corolla and i have the same problem with mine. i just leave it. its not causing me any pain with leaving it there. even when im going fast and slam on the breaks it doesn't move because of the seat belts

AnswerThe inner panel on the door should have 1 or 2 screws located on the hand rest, then it has 6 or 8 snap in pins. Take the panel off and take a look at the thin metal bar running from the lock to the latch on the door. If it looks like its disconnected, take a look at it. See if you cant pop the wires back in.Alternatively, you can try just spraying WD-40 into the lock, to see if it might just be gummed up.
