What do you do when an at-fault driver has insufficient insurance to pay for your total loss?

[Edit]

Insurance Delimma

Depending on what state you live in check your insurance policy for Under or UN insured motorist coverage. In some states it is an elective coverage and in others you are required to carry the minimum limits. If you do not have that type of coverage your best bet is to contact an attorney. Again depending on what state you live in, some insurance carriers can go after other members of the households insurance to recoup damages. In other words, if Grandma or Uncle Bob is the one that hit you and they live with son or daughter, it may be possible to file against son or daughters policy.

sue em

Sue them. You may not see any money for awhile, but at least you will be given a judgement and promise - which is more then you have now.
