For one thing, maybe you should give it some time. Who broke up with whom, and etc. If they broke up with you, they must have had a decent reason - if not, then they're not worth your time. Don't stress over it because there are many men out there that will be willing to be with you; I'm sure. Good luck with everything.

No. You are not doing the right thing because you obviously love this man and you wont be able to move on without at least knowing how he feels about you. You should at least keep in contact with him; you might even wish to travel and visit him, possibly even to stay.
