If your radio will not shut off when you turn off the car, there may be an issue with the wiring. If your car has the feature where your radio will not turn off until you open the door, that is normal. However, if you have an aftermarket radio, the wiring is most likely the cause.
Wire it to a power source that also cuts off when you turn the cars ignition off, like the signal lamps or something else.
The radio is connected via serial cable to vital electronic systems. You can purchase an extension cable to put the radio in the trunk or under a seat, it has to stay in the car, even if you want to put in an aftermarket deck.
Locate an appropriate place to mount the radio. Mount the bracket for the radio and secure the radio to it. Mount the antenna to the truck and run the coax to the radio following a path that does not cause interference with other functions like seat adjustment or the pedals. Hook the electrical connections up, insuring that the Red wire is hoked to a Positive connection, or to the Plus side of the battery, and is going through a fused connection. Hook the Black or Ground wire to the vehicle frame. Screw the antenna to the radio, turn the unit on and enjoy the conversations.
