What do you legally have to do to let your 16-year-old son live with somebody else? |
Answer
You have two options. One is to sign guardianship papers so that the adult person he would be living with would have temporary guardianship over him. The other is to allow him to become emancipated which means, he would become a lagal adult. This has to be proven to the judge before he will grant emancipation and, both types of paperwork can be obtained at your local courthouse. The proof that the judge will look for will be: Cooking, paying his own bills haveing a joc, cleaning his own living quarters, basically being able to maintain life without having you around. I hope this helps.
