A few starters might include:

  • Not good grades but exceptional grades in High School or Prep School.
  • Not good leadership skills but exceptional leadership skills.
  • Not athletic skills, but a wide range of exceptional athletic talents.
  • Not a history of community service, but a long history of achievements.

It would not hurt and could help if you have taken every advanced placement course available and Aced them all, were multilingual by choice and not by birth, ran marathons, sang in the choir, were a top Scout, religious without being a zealot, had the lead in a play, played several Musical Instruments well, had a private pilots license, were an avid Scuba diver, Class President and already had great offers from dozens of schools.

Advantage might also be found if you:

  • Come from a distinguished Military family.
  • Have a parent that won the Medal of Honor.
  • Are on first name terms with several US Representatives and both US Senators.
  • Are close and cozy with the President and or the Vice President.
