It depends what country you're in ! Here in the UK - you cannot collect unemployment benefit if you're in full-time education. One of the conditions for receiving benefit is that you must be actively seeking, and available for work - neither condition can be met if you're in full-time education.

Can you collect unemployment if you quit your job to go back to school in Missouri?

This is very doubtful. To collect unemployment you must, usually, be unemployed due to no fault of your own. While going back to school is an admirable idea, it is still attributable to you that you are unemployed. Beyond that, unemployment always requires that you be ready, willing, and able to work, and going to school - especially full-time - typically prevents you from meeting this qualification.

Can you attend school and collect unemployment in Washington State?

Attending school, like volunteering, while unemployed is encouraged because it improves your chances, as long as you comply with the rest of the rules regarding receiving benefits ( willing, able, and actively seeking full time employment, etc.). NO, you can not. School is not like volunteering. It makes you unavailable for work and there for you lose your unemployment benifits. I just got off the phone with the unemployment office and that is what they told me.

Can you collect unemployment while completing your Masters in Michigan?

Several factors impact your eligibility to collect unemployment. The most important qualification is that you be ready, willing, and able to work full-time. Commitment as a full-time student usually means you do not meet this qualification. Being a part time student is different, of course, and all unemployment claims are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. You should still file for unemployment benefits; the worst that can happen is that they will deny your claim.

Can you collect New York State unemployment while on disability?

Legally, yes, but it may be a factor in whether you're approved for Social Security Disability (SSDI).While the Social Security Administration doesn't prohibit people on (SSDI) disability from receiving unemployment checks, state unemployment regulations usually require all unemployment recipients to be willing and able to accept full-time work. This creates a conflict, because you're generally not eligible for Social Security disability benefits if you're capable of full-time work. For more information, see Related Questions, below.
