What do you put in the 'wage desired'space when you heard the company was hiring but you do not know for what position?

The best answer to put is "any" that way it covers all the positions. I actually take up applications with my job, and when I see that I know that they are really serious about finding a job. A better suggestion is to write " any that I am qualified for". A welder would not be considered for a spray painters job. Wrong qualifications.

If a company made you sign a non compete agreement that is one method. Another thing I've heard happen is a company will begin hiring employees from a competitor we'll call Company X. After they hire away a number of employees from Company X, Company X may get upset and send a statement, threat, or plead to the hiring company to stop taking all their employees. Whether the hiring company obliges probably depends on whether Company X has any leverage.

People should answer honestly when answering interview questions regarding the reason for working at a particular company. They should also mention how they heard about the position and what grabbed their attention.
