Linoleum does require some care & maintenance, it definitely is NO a lay it & forget it floor. It is somewhat "Green" in the environmental sense & can give a very long life if cared for & properly installed.
I suggest you go to your makers website & get their specific instructions, if you have not chosen yet, go to Marmoleum or Armstrong & they both have a nice section on Care & Maintenance.

You rip the floor out an put in a new one if you dont like the linoleum other wise it looks trashy
What you use to wash white floors depends on the material. If your floors are tile, you can use something abrasive to clean them.
Yes...my proffesional house cleaner says that it what they use to clean most if not all slate floors in homes.
You can try a mixture of white vinegar and water to get white water marks off of linoleum. Use a scrub brush with the mixture to clean the area. If that does not work, clean the marks with toothpaste.
Scrape as much as you can with a metal spatula then use Goof Off to get the rest. It will NOT harm hardwood floors.
