Carapace:- from French, from Spanish carapacho.

It is the hard shell of things like turtles and tortoises. Other animals also have a carapace, such as lobsters. A lobster's carapace is the bit of their shell that covers the head area.

The word carapace can also be used in an illustrative way to describe a mental or emotionally protective shell that a person might put up, or hide behind.

The word is also used in architecture.

Turtles have a carapace.

Some other groups of animals have a carapace like Crustaceans, Arachnida, and Tortoises.
