Loss of innocence usually begins with witnessing or experiencing a tragic event. this leads children to believe that there are flaws in the world. The next step is the understanding of lying, which they can then employ to "imporve" their own life. This then leads them to understand selfishness and corruption. Children also begin to humanize people they once looked up to such as parents and hero's and the recognize their ability to make mistakes too.
