It means that someone is listening in on your conversation, and you don't want them to hear what you're saying. Example: If you and your friend are talking about a surprise party your throughing for Mackenzie, and Mackinzie is standing a few feet away, you would say, "Shhh.....The walls have ears..." And that would be saying to the friend that Mackenzie is listening!!! Stop talking!!!
